Remodels
are so much fun! These projects truly test the patience and
organizational skills of both contractor and client. Just a
few of the many challenges involve; daily coordination with
store management, relocating entire departments into temporary
quarters, finding storage in a limited area and constructing
temporary enclosures and signs. The Contractor had to maintain
great flexibility in helping Safeway keep their stores open
24 hours a day, while keeping its customers happy and safe.
North
Pole, Alaska - This 53,600 square foot remodel includes concrete
cutting, removal, and placement work for new and relocated refrigeration
cases throughout the store. The Owner provided a phasing plan
which required the Contractor and the store Manager to work
together very closely and be responsive to the customers needs
at all times, as the store is open 24 hours a day. The remodel
included structural upgrades to the roof structure and an existing
mechanical mezzanine. The refrigeration and mechanical equipment
remained in operation while the upgrades were being done. New
trusses had to be disassembled and reassembled in place in order
to accomplish the work.
