Descriptive:

This heavy equipment maintenance facility is located adjacent to the Alaska Railroad dock in Whittier, Alaska. The facility includes a 5,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building with a 1,200 square foot mezzanine and a 1,600 square foot exterior covered storage area. The building is designed for the unique local climatic conditions, which require 210 pounds per square foot roof snow load and 150 mph wind load. The sitework included relocation of existing underground petroleum lines, sanitary and storm sewer mains and relocation of overhead electrical lines. The pre-engineered building, mechanical and electrical systems were constructed on a design build basis.
